Designer Of The Year - Rue 114

Rue 114 is inspired by and created for women who believe that every shape and size should be celebrated as beautiful. For Spring/Summer 2013, Rue 114 presents its "Prints-n-Scribes" collection, our story through the medium of print, color & form. This is our first Spring presentation, and the season immediately brings to mind rebirth, color, and freshness that we hope to reflect in this collection. As we seek to constantly push the boundaries of modern, African inspired fashion; we thought it appropriate to use prints as our foundation. Taking cues from the popular color blocking trend, Rue 114 re-imagines the aesthetic through the prism of "print blocking." Needless to say, this is not your wallflower's collection! Last season, we kept use of Ntuma (African prints) to a minimum and think we may have suppressed a lot as we went a bit crazy for Spring/Summer. But, here at Rue 114, we like "crazy" and hope you like it on us too! Each piece in this collection is named after a fabulous friend who has encouraged and inspired us to keep dreaming big!! It takes a village!

Serwah Asante is the Creative Director and Founder of Rue 114. After graduating from Dartmouth College with a BA in Sociology, Serwah continued her studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology, NY. In 2011, Serwah launched Rue 114 as a platform upon which to celebrate beauty and style at all sizes. Inspiration for the Rue 114 brand is deeply informed by the designer’s Ghanaian roots, New York City upbringing, and eternal love of travel. Each collection is born of the global perspective and responds to the call of what today's woman; whether in Laos, Lagos, or Los Angeles; needs to be edgy, unique, powerful, and always feminine.

Model Of The Year - Robyn Lawley

Robyn together with iconic Australian swimwear labelBond Eye have collaborated to create a range of swimwear specifically designed for fashion forward women with curves - Robyn whoisa passionate fashionista herself, wanted to create a range of swimwear that has all the technical elements of support and shaping women want with a high end designer feel and on trend styling. Vogue Australia had the exclusive first look at the collection and have shot a beautiful editorial for their June issue and a comprehensive interview with Robyn about designing the collection. (On stands May 2013)”

Robyn is best known for her cover of Vogue Italia’s June 2011 issue, and the first Plus-size model to be shot for Australian Vogue. Robyn was also the first Australian plus size model to be on the cover of Madison, an Australian Fashion magazine and has shot countless editorials for magazines around the world such as Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Look, Mode, Marie Claire and Elle magazines to name a few. Robyn has worked with world renown photographers including Lee Broomfield, Michel Haddi, Thierry Le Goues, Raphael Mazzucco and Steven Meisel and is also the first plus-size model to appear in a campaign for RalphLauren.

Retailer Of The Year - Asos

Photographer Of The Year - Dorothy Shi

Dorothy Shi is a New York fashion and beauty photographer and specializes in headshots, children and commercial photography.

Taking after her father, a World War I and II photojournalist, she explored the idea of photography since her first camera, which was given to her by him. Shi always admired his courage and focus to photograph even in the most intense environment. Feeling the same adrenaline that excited him empowered her to pursue it as a career but also guided her insatiable need to express herself artistically in new ways. Shi later studied at FIT for Graphic Design.

Through the years, her persistence and support of her professional team of makeup artists, stylists, and assistants has enabled her to flourish and become a highly accredited photographer. Shi actively seeks and has lent her talents to other areas in directing and facilitating projects in advertising, editorial, brand identities, catalog and look books for new and emerging clients.
